Myth 3: Managers must control direct reports. Fact: Managers who share power tend to command influence; those who allow initiative to flourish build credibility among subordinates.<\/p>\n
Myth 4: Managers must focus on establishing good individual relationships. Fact: Getting the best out of a team does not depend on building one-on-one relationships with the members of a team.<\/p>\n
Myth 5: Managers keep things running smoothly. Fact: Initiating change often necessitates overturning the current order of things; without changes in the way work is done, process improvement is not possible.<\/p>\n
